Sign the Petition for a Safer Darlingscott Crossroads

We are supporting a petition for traffic lights to improve safety at the junction of the Darlingscott Road with the A429, following another serious collision involving an Ilmington resident.

The safety of the Darlingscott Road junction with the A429 Fosse Way was discussed by Ilmington Parish Council at its meeting this week. In response to ongoing concerns from residents, the Parish Council has agreed to support a petition calling for traffic lights to improve safety at the junction.

The Darlingscott Road is a vital link between Ilmington, Darlingscott and other villages with Shipston on Stour and is used every day by people travelling to the doctor’s surgery, local shops, work and other essential services. For many residents, there is no practical alternative route.

The junction is widely regarded by local residents as an accident black spot. Last week, an Ilmington resident was involved in a serious collision. Over the past decade, there have been numerous traffic collisions at this location, including sadly a fatality in 2023. Shockingly, this morning there was yet another dreadful accident, reinforcing widespread concerns about the safety of the junction and the need for meaningful and robust safety improvements.

The petition calls on the highway authority to install traffic lights at the junction, helping to reduce the risk of future collisions and improving access between communities.

Ilmington Parish Council supports this petition and encourages everyone who lives or works in the local area to add their name.
