Be Wildfire Aware & Protect Our Parks

With the current hot, dry weather, the risk of grass and wildfire is significantly higher than normal. Even a small spark can quickly develop into a serious fire, putting people, wildlife, property and our valuable green spaces at risk.

Ilmington Parish Council is asking everyone to take extra care when visiting our parks and open spaces.

🔥 Please help reduce the risk:

• Do not use barbecues on any Parish Council open space.
• Do not light fires or campfires.
• Dispose of cigarettes safely and never drop cigarette ends.
• Take all litter home with you, especially glass bottles, which can increase the risk of fire.

Government advice is to only use barbecues in designated areas where they are specifically permitted. The Parish Council does not permit the use of disposable barbecues on any of its land. Other types of barbecues may be permitted in certain circumstances; however, during this period of increased fire risk, the use of all barbecues is prohibited on our land.

If you see a fire:

• Move to a safe location.
• Call 999 immediately and report the fire.
• Do not put yourself at risk trying to tackle a fire.

Wildfires can spread quickly and threaten homes and infrastructure.  We’re sure you’ve seen the news of the terrible fires in Europe. Thank you for helping to protect our community during this period of increased fire risk.
