Volunteers Give Pond a Makeover

Ilmington Parish Council would like to thank you to the team of volunteers who joined the pond clear-out on Ilmington Playing Fields last weekend.

Published: 2 September 2025

With the hot weather leaving the pond almost completely dry, it was the perfect chance to get stuck in. The team hauled out ten old tyres, a set of traffic lights (yes, really!), and plenty of large bits of wood, which will become homes for all sorts of creepy crawlies and somewhere for our frogs and newts to hibernate.

This clear-up is the first step in an exciting plan to bring life back to the pond, supported by grant funding from Stratford-on-Avon District Council’s Community Climate and Nature Recovery Fund. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we’ve make a great start on restoring a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming spot for both people and wildlife.
