Notice of By-election for Quinton Ward

Information from Stratford District Council:

Cllr Dominic Skinner (Liberal Democrat) has resigned with immediate effect from his role as a district councillor representing Quinton ward on Stratford-on-Avon District Council. By-elections for this ward will take place on Thursday 20 November.

The notice of election has now been posted and nominations for the by-election will close at 4pm on Friday 24 October.

Notice Of Election SDC By Elections

1. Forms of nomination for District Elections may be obtained at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX from the Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX on any day after the date of this notice between the hours of 10am to 4pm but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 24th October 2025. Contact 01789 260208 or email elections@stratford-dc.gov.uk to arrange an appointment.
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 20th November 2025.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on 4th November 2025. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX by 5 pm on Wednesday, 5th November 2025 . You may apply online or download a form at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote or contact the Electoral Registration Office direct.
6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (free voter ID, or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election, must reach the at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX by 5 pm on Wednesday, 12th November 2025.
7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX by 5 pm on Wednesday, 12th November 2025. You can find information and dependent upon your proxy type apply online at https://www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/voting-by-proxy.
8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX by 5 pm on Thursday, 20th November 2025.

Poll cards containing details of the by-election and the polling station venues will be sent out from 23 October.

Important Notice for Ilmington Residents – Change of Polling Place

Residents of Ilmington are advised that there will be a change of venue for the upcoming Quinton District Ward By-Election, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 20th November 2025.

Due to the unavailability of the Village Hall, the polling station will instead be located at:

The Sports Pavilion on the Playing Fields 
Mickleton Road
Ilmington CV36 4JQ

This change applies only for this election. Full details will be provided on your poll cards, which you should receive in advance of polling day.

Please ensure you attend the correct venue to cast your vote.
