Dogs & St Marys Churchyard
The Parish Council cordially requests the minority of dog owners that do so to desist from allowing their dogs to roam unsupervised and to keep their dogs under close supervision, preferably on the lead, in the burial grounds.

Villages will be aware that the close relatives of many who live away from Ilmington are buried in the churchyard of St Maryโs. Those walking the path alongside the church often see small parties making a pilgrimage to attend the graves of their loved ones. A sad, but hopefully, uplifting episode of remembrance.
Regrettably, the Parish Council has again been advised that this experience is often marred by the presence of dog faeces on paths and even on the graves. The area is unfenced, so dogs roaming free have every opportunity to do whatever they consider necessary with the unfortunate results described above.
The Parish Council cordially requests the minority of dog owners that do so to desist from allowing their dogs to roam unsupervised and to keep their dogs under close supervision, preferably on the lead, in the burial grounds. Please give others the respect that you would wish for yourselves. Hopefully, a positive reaction to this request will result in an improving perception of visitors to our village.
