Ilmington Horticultural Society

President: Miss Irene Sabin

The Society, which is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society, was founded in 1923. The Society does not have members but its committee organises shows, garden visits and events such as plant sales that are open to all.

Garden Visits 2026

To be announced.

Plant Sales 2026

The Society organises two sales of home-grown plants, one in April to coincide with the Spring Flower Show (28 March) and the other in May when village gardens open for the National Garden Scheme (23 May). The perennials, shrubs, annuals etc are grown by members proven successes in local gardens. Proceeds go to fund future Society events and to local good causes.

This year’s Annual Show will take place on Monday 31 August 2026 at Ilmington Playing Fields on the Mickleton Road. Admission to the Horticultural marquee is free. You don’t have to be an expert grower, cook or artist but this is a real competition with trophies to be won. Have a go and enjoy producing the best flowers, vegetables, jams, cakes, wines, photos, and art and crafts. Anyone can enter whether they live in Ilmington or outside the village and there are special classes for children so all the family can join in.
