Village Greens

Ilmington has two registered village greens: Lower Green by the Howard Arms pub and Upper Green below Ilmington Community Shop.

Ilmington Parish Council became the registered owner of the village greens under section 4 of the Commons Registration Act 1965. The official titles are Top Green and Bottom Green, although they are more usually referred to as Upper and Lower Green.

As registered village greens, these beautiful open spaces are for the enjoyment of all local residents. The greens have, by law, to remain open and be freely accessible at all times to local residents for exercise and recreation. They are protected spaces and it is an criminal offence to wilfully cause any injury or damage to the green.

Organised groups and commercial hirers wishing to use the space should contact the parish council.
