Gigabit Broadband Opportunity for Ilmington
Openreach is encouraging Ilmington residents to apply for funding to improve their broadband connection.
Published: 7 June 2023
Openreach has identified Alderminster and Ilmington as being strong contenders for full fibre connections and is urging local people to take the next step by applying for free government Gigabit Vouchers to help fund the network build.
Ilmington residents are invited to sign up and pledge their voucher towards their share of the cost of upgrading the network. As part of the deal they must also agree to take a full fibre broadband product from any provider once the service becomes available.
This is a demand-led community scheme, which means Openreach’s decision to start work on the upgrade depends on enough people in the village successfully pledging their vouchers.
Representatives from Openreach will be knocking on doors over the next few days to tell people about the scheme. A copy of their flyer is attached.
Residents can check if they qualify and pledge their voucher on the Connect My Community website.
