Updated 06 October 2023 – Just 10 more pledges needed!
Residents and business owners in Armscote, Blackwell, Darlingscott, and Ilmington are being urged to sign up for a scheme that could bring full fibre broadband to Ilmington in the next 12 months.
Openreach has identified the area as being suitable for its Community Fibre Partnership. Eligible properties can get a voucher worth up to £4,500 under the UK government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme which they agree to pass on to Openreach to pay for the cost of the network build.
“So far around 68% of the pledge target has been reached in Ilmington but the number of pledges seems to have stalled in recent weeks,” said Gavin Tristram, Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Manager at the CSW Broadband Project, part of Warwickshire County Council, which is supporting the scheme.
“This is a golden opportunity to bring all properties within the parish up to gigabit-capable speeds so that they can take advantage of all the benefits that will bring for decades to come. The voucher covers the cost of the upgrade and, as it is financed by the UK government, it won’t cost local residents or businesses a penny to build the fibre network in the area.
Failure to secure enough voucher pledges will mean that the scheme won’t be able to go ahead, so your pledge is absolutely vital to ensure better connectivity for your community.
To pledge your support, simply go to Openreach’s Connect My Community website, enter your postcode and click the Search button. Then click the green ‘Pledge’ button and complete the simple online application form.
Remember, your support could be the difference between your community getting gigabit-capable broadband connectivity in a matter of months or possibly having to wait years for a future upgrade, so get pledging today!”
If you have already pledged, then please help spread the word and make others aware of the scheme.
